Dear CMAAO Colleagues,
Thank you all for giving me the honour and opportunity to work on this honourable position of the President of CMAAO. Indeed, this is the third time that the Presidents of the Medical Association of Thailand had been installed to serve the Confederation.
I can say that this is not only for me but you have already given this honour to all the members of the Medical Association of Thailand as a whole.
I do really appreciate with the honour you gave to me but I also realize that it comes with a high responsibility. CMAAO has been one of the recognized medical organizations not only in the region but also the world accepted body. The history of CMAAO had very well shown of our collaborative activities in serving medical cares and humanity in the region as many people say "Medicine has no boundary". It is the fact that under globalization people can move across from one country to the others in a few hours, information and technologies can be accessed through wireless systems but I still have the impression that friendly contact and expression can be better achieved at the meeting. Bringing people to the same table, discussing the grass root of the problems, presenting the successes and failures, setting the resolutions, modeling, synchronizing and harmonizing the processes for a targeted result and adjusting them to fit the location and implementation would be the tasks of ours.

Although among the 17 countries of our members, our cultures and situations may be somehow, but not totally, variable. We can not just simply copy the success which is achieved in one country to be fully useful in the others, but, however, many experiences can be learned and transformed to work well in other countries.

In these days, we are all aware that many old and one - time controllable diseases have come back to burden our medical practices as well as the newly emerging diseases especially those caused by viruses and the combination of virus and bacteria. Educational and Preventive measures are needed to be extensively advocated to stimulate awareness among people and policy makers especially in the developing areas. Environmental protection activities are no more belongs merely to the environmentalists but medical professions are needed to be involved. Global warming, Antismoking Campaign, Reduction of the energy usage, and the Cleanliness of the public utensils are examples. HIV, T.B, SARS, Avian Flu, Dengue Hemorrhagic fever, and Malaria are among those to be focused on. Natural disasters, such as Earthquakes and Tsunami are sometimes difficult to forecast but can kill and injure a mass number of population. High assisting technologies and closely connection of warning and information sharing can reduce the extent of losses and quicker recovery.
Therefore, CMAAO can be an appropriate platform for discussion, lesson learn and technological transferring.
Looking back to the past of CMAAO, I could see a promising well collaboration among member countries which brings us up here today but I am looking forward to the future of CMAAO that there are more challenging rooms for more achievements. With the help and cooperation from all the member countries, the office bearers, councilors and all of you, I strongly anticipate that we can move ahead to build more progressive successful outcomes which will benefit our people in the CMAAO region and mankind of the world.
I, therefore, urge you all to spend your utmost energy to bring us close together and work together to achieve our ultimate goal of the objectives of CMAAO.
Thanks. Looking forward to working with you all.
